SF-1 bearings
PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) plays a vital role in SF-1 bearings, mainly providing the following functions and advantages:
- Self-lubrication: PTFE has an extremely low friction coefficient and is one of the lowest known solid materials with a friction coefficient, which allows SF-1 bearings to self-lubricate during movement.
- Wear resistance: PTFE has good wear resistance, which helps reduce the wear of bearings during operation.
- Chemical stability: PTFE has good resistance to most chemicals, including acids, alkalis and organic solvents, which allows SF-1 bearings to work stably in various chemical environments.
- Non-stickiness: The surface of PTFE is very smooth and not easy to adhere, which helps reduce adhesion wear between bearings and shafts or other components.
- Wide temperature range: PTFE can maintain its performance over a wide temperature range. Although it will degrade at extremely high temperatures, it is stable within the general industrial application temperature range.
- Electrical insulation: PTFE is an excellent electrical insulating material that helps prevent current from passing through the bearing and reduce electrical corrosion.
- Moisture resistance: PTFE does not degrade due to humidity changes and maintains its properties even in humid environments.
- Biocompatibility and non-toxicity: PTFE is considered biocompatible and non-toxic, making it suitable for applications that require contact with food or drugs.
- Aging resistance: PTFE has good aging resistance and will not degrade even after long-term exposure to air.
- Easy processing: Although the processing of PTFE requires special technology, it can be combined with other materials through processes such as sintering and pressing to form a composite material with self-lubricating properties.
In SF-1 bearings, PTFE is usually combined with a copper alloy matrix to form a three-layer structure, in which the PTFE layer provides self-lubricating properties and the copper alloy matrix provides the required mechanical strength and load-bearing capacity. This design makes SF-1 bearings suitable for a variety of applications, especially in applications where conventional lubrication is difficult to achieve.
